If I Ruled the world …

1	I would leave well alone. “Of the best leaders when they are gone, the people all say, we did it ourselves.”
2	my main concern would be with the process of thinking and interacting rather than with the thoughts themselves.
3	there would be a cosmopolitan vanguard of cherry picked persons to populate a global think tank In addition to their spheres of technical competence, individuals would be trained in the finer points of mindfulness, colloquium and team work.
4	the key shakers and movers would take a meta view of moral necessities (balance in Haidt’s 5) and would thus be able and willing to compromise.
5	I would organise things such that the world is ruled by ‘we the people’: and the global vanguard, using Multi Stakeholder Processes, would ensure that the focus remains on the bigger picture.
6	I would encourage elegant power and a hegemonic system that supports the actions of the global vanguard.
7	consilience would be a guiding principle for policy making – apply STEEPLES.
8	there would be widespread mindfulness and thus peaceful compassion. The credo = let inner peace be the foundation of outer peace.
9	I would promote and support the notion of ‘no boundaries’ and thus of cosmic consciousness. This would defuse parochialism and xenophobia. It would expand what is understood as ‘me and them’ and ‘them and us’. This would involve highlighting the notions of hierarchy and territoriality.
10	the PR and advertising industries would be channelled into moulding minds in (a) the direction of sustainable green democracy and (b) the notion that small is beautiful and possible in many more instances than is presently realised.
11	‘entertainment’ would be designed to stimulate and uncover the benign and peaceful human nature. Take lessons from the Quakers and from the many meditation traditions.
12	history would be rewritten from the perspective of evolutionary psychology underpinned by neuroscience. We are stardust.
13	right wing, red neck zealots would undergo talking therapy before assuming office.
14	I would plan for what to do when I am no longer around. This would include preparing the individuals of the future vanguard to work out their salvation with diligence.
